Marchers attacked by state and local police on the Edmund Pettus Bridge, Bloody Sunday, Selma Alabama. The march took place on Sunday, March 7, 1965 and was led by John Lewis of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) and Rev. Hosea Williams of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). John Lewis is shown wearing a backpack in the far right of the photo.
