Moses "Cap" and Roxie Meredith are interviewed in a cotton field.  Mr. Meredith answers questions, says he doesn't take a paper, only knows what he hears.  Doesn't have any feeling about what James is doing.  Talks about how rough it was for James to get to school-- had to walk three miles, has five sisters and four brothers.  After school James went in the service for eight or nine years.  Things were pretty hard-- "we stayed poor and destitute all the time."
