Andrea Sheen reviews the strengths of the NBC News Archive and oultines the procedures for reviewing and purchasing footage. Senior Producer Judith Vecchione explains the relationship of producers and film researchers. Project Archivist Kenn Rabin outlines the system for tracking archival footage by using edge codes and key numbers. Production teams will use fine grain positives for the creation of workprints. The picture locked masters will consist of B-wind color negatives based on the edge codes provided by the producers. Tape 2 Rabin will also act as a technical advisor on film questions, the touch person for the film researches and the conduit for all materials that come into the house.
