Box 01 - Contains various business documents related to Henry Hampton's involvement with different organizations, 1979-1985. Includes materials related to the Boston Center for the Arts (1979-1985); Hampton's role as President/general manager of WHIM/East Providence Broadcasting, Inc. (1979-1982); Massachusetts Cultural Alliance, such as budgets and meeting minutes (1984-1985); Also has materials related to early Blackside productions, such as a budget summary and National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) application for "Crime in America"; and general research for the "55 MPH Man" and "The Solar Percentage."

Box 02 - Contains various business documents related to Henry Hampton and early Blackside projects, 1979-1985. Includes job requests and resumés from individuals seeking employment for "Eyes on the Prize"; resumés of  those being considered for hire (1985); an invoice log (1980); script drafts for a Social Security Administration film written by Camila Velez (1984-1985); correspondence and proposals related to the film "Working Out," a film designed to encourage black students to pursue career goals (particularly medical school); and information (roster, standings, etc.) related to Hampton's' wheelchair basketball team.   

Box 03 - Contains various financial records and materials related to "Eyes on the Prize."  Includes financial statements, property tax records, statement of operation, and balance sheets, 1980-1986. Also has production information for Eyes I, including a letter confirming PBS' commitment to Hampton (March 1984); stock footage receipts, sources, and information; A and B roll charts; an early Eyes I proposal (1977); and early drafts of the first episode of Eyes I, "The Awakening" (1979 and 1983). 

Box 04 - Contains financial and production records for Blackside and "Eyes on the Prize", 1982-1986. Includes Blackside's business plan for Eyes I (1982),  expense statements, cost proposals, budgets, stock footage lists, memodrandums, production schedules, and outlines and working drafts for all 6 episodes of Eyes I.  

Box 05 - Contains various financial documents for the Henry Hampton Redevelopment Corp., a corporation established in Missouri, 1961, from the late 1970s-1987. Includes lease, repair, and insurance records for a building leased in St. Louis by the corporation and corporate income tax returns (bulk  1983-1987). Also has bills and personal correspondence addressed to Hampton (1980-1987). 

Box 06 - Contains various materials related to  "Eyes on the Prize" production, fundraising, and promotion, 1985-1987.  Includes various contracts, such as signed contracts for writing "Civil Rights Chronicles" (May 1986) and the reader/guide for the Eyes telecourse,  appearance releases for footage of Jim Clark (February 1986) and Kenneth Clark (November 1985), footage releases, and photo material releases; Eyes I revenue projections for 1987;  stock footage correspondence, sources, rights information, and rates;  fundraising (Decemeber 1984-June 1986) and  final funding summary (March 1987); interview lists with descriptions of interviewee backgrounds; music; and materials related to promotion and publicity, such as outlines for events, press kits, new releases, press clips and news stories.  

Box 07 - Contains materials related to  "Eyes on the Prize" production, promotion, and outreach as well as  Blackside administration, 1985-1987. Includes various budgets (completion, production, promotion, etc.); copies of donation checks to Blackside for Eyes I (1986); correspondence regarding foreign rights, lists of ordered and received footage for Eyes I (January 1986); stock footage logs; Blackside annual statements of expenses and  financial summaries (1986-1987); Blackside payroll information; Blackside meeting minutes; correspondence related to organizing the production of the Eyes I telecourse (1987); a draft of the contract between Blackside and Juan Williams in regard to the companion volume of "Eyes on the Prize"; preliminary report on the development of an archive for the Eyes I materials.  Also has some preliminary Eyes II budgets and correspondence and materials related to Hampton/Blakeney construction proposal (1987).

Box 08 - Contains correspondence/memorandums and financial materials related to "Eyes on the Prize" and Henry Hampton's personal investments, 1985-1987.  Includes solicitation for Eyes I funding and funding summary; a proposal and budget for the Eyes Telecourse;  Eyes I production budgets; potential sources for stock footage; consultants comments on Eye I episodes; Hampton's involvement with a real estate development in Roxbury; plans for the formation of a limited partnership called 10 Eliot Square Associates; and Hampton's investment in New England  Television Corp.  Also has some Blackside financial documentation. 

Box 09 - Contains materials related to "Eyes on the Prize," mostly from 1986.  Includes funding status sheet and other financial/funding documentation; final scripts for each episodes, some with comments; a draft of the "Eyes on the Prize" book by Juan Williams; a transcript from a June 1986 meeting on episode 4; itineraries and lists for participants for Eyes I "school," internal education workshops held  to familiarize Blackside staff with the subject matters featured in the production; budgets; promotional materials; and a proposal for "Crime in America." Also has 37photos, 5x7 in., showing damage at the Veterans Outreach Center building.  

Box 10 - Contains budgets, financial documentation, correspondence, and other materials related to "Eyes on the Prize," mostly from 1986.  Includes materials related to the Eyes Telecourse; fundraising sources, itineraries; the "Eyes on the Prize" by Juan Williams to be published by Penguin (includes contract); screening and script comments and notes; the "Eyes on the Prize" guidebook; and stock footage sources, information, and rates. Also has preliminary budget and proposal for "Eyes on the Prize II" and receipts, postcards, etc. from a trip to India. 

Box 11 - Contains materials related to "Eyes on the Prize II" and other Blackside productions,  mostly from 1988-1989.  Includes a proposal; production planning notes; scripts; correspondence related to Eyes II Telecourse; budget information and reserach for stock footage; a report of the first stages of research and development for Eyes II; resumés; materials related to the Eyes II boook; workplan and a memorandum on a scholar's meeting for "America's War on Poverty"; research and development plan on "The Great Depression"; and financial documentation and various budgets.  Also has, concepts for the movies "Capuh" and "Scam" (1981).  

Box 12 - Contains correspondence/memorandums and other materials related to "Eyes on the Prize II," 1988-1989.  Includes  transcripts from Eyes II interviews with Allen Lupo, Mayor Hatcher, Philip Watkins, and Ralph Abernathy; Matthew Jones music licenses; budgets; treatments; a manual of procedures for field shoot; and materials related to Hampton's hobby of flying planes;.  Also has correspondence requesting Henry Hampton to speak at various engagements, including an invitation to be the Washington Univeristy commencement speaker and a 1988 letter requesting his papers be donated to Washington University;  Eyes I contracts with PBS and promotional materials; and 20 photos, 8x10 in., of Henry Hampton in a group portrait at an awards ceremony. 

Box 13 - Contains informational packets and  viewer  guides for "Eyes on the Prize," "Eyes on the Prize II," and "Breakthrough."  Also has issues 1, 7, 11 of  the "Black Chronicle."  Contains various lists, inventories, and logs. Includes inventory list for "We Shall Overcome" archive; Instar storage log; notebooks for cross referencing the labeling systems at Metro Storage and Fortress Storage; a list of sources and information on "Eyes on the Prize" II;  "Eyes on the Prize" I interview log; an inventory of schools that purchased Eyes I videotapes between July 1987-May 1988. Also has Henry Hampton's notebooks/diaries from 1983 and 1984. 

Box 14 - Contains Henry Hampton's and Blackside's financial documentation and correspondence, 1987-1990. Includes attorney bills and other bills; plane insurance; Blackside expense reports; and Hampton's real estate purchase agreements and other materials related to Hampton's investments.  Also has Hampton's tax returns from 1968-1971 and letters from professors praising "Eyes on the Prize."

Box 15 - Contains materials related to Henry Hampton's travels and activites. 1989-1990. Includes invitations to speak and participate at events from various organizations; handwritten notebooks outlining Hampton's travel and day to day activities; and trip itineraries.  Also has credit card receipts; financial statments; correspondence from other filmmakers; and internal memorandums about Eyes II between Hampton and Blackside staff.

Box 16 - Contains proposals, scripts, budgets, and other materials related to Blackside's productions, 1979-1984.  Includes arevised cost proposal for the 1980 Census Project; proposals for "Street Scene," "Every Year," "Reasons Why"; "Gambit" film script; and  budgets for various projects such as "55 MPH Man" and "Our Joe."  Also has resumés and correspondence related to the construction of a new Blackside building.

Box 17 - Contains materials, mostly bound,  related to "Eyes on the Prize" I and II. Includes Eyes II outlines, chronology, research database, stock footage and stills research by state, work progress and fundraising status memorandums; Eyes treatments, in particular Hampton's master copy of Eyes I treatments and "The Movement and the Resistance: America's Civil Rights Years, 1955-1965" treatment (1977), and proposals;  Blackside informational, business overview, and government production bound materials; and a storyboard for a possible Eyes introduction.  Also has "Malcolm X: Make it Plain" clippings and a comprehensive production and information book on "This Far By Faith."

Box 18 - Contains various list, inventories, and logs. Includes inventory list for "We Shall Overcome" archive; Instar storage log; notebooks for cross referencing the labeling systems at Metro Storage and Fortress Storage; a list of sources and information on "Eyes on the Prize" II;  "Eyes on the Prize" I interview log; an inventory of schools that purchased Eyes I videotapes between July 1987-May 1988.

Box 19 - Contains miscellaneous files from various time periods. Includes materials related to Hampton's airplane, photocopies of magazine articles included in a "writing file," and memos and articles in an "idea file," itneraries for Hampton's promotional trips for "Eyes On The Prize," notes for speeches, typed texts of Hampton speeches, copies of speeches by then-Governor Bill Clinton, Hampton's Missouri income tax information, documents for the Boston wheelchair basketball team, vacation documents for a 1982 trip to the Virgin Islands, transcript of a Question and Answer session held at the Television and Race Forum on May 16, 1989, and a program and invitation to receptions honoring Eyes on the Prize.; a note from Elizabeth Yates McGreal with a copy of her novella "Silver Lining" as well as a program and review of a theatrical adaptation of the book.   Of special interest is a proposed budget for "Eyes on the Prize" dated April 9, 1984, included in a file of insurance documents, a notebook containing ""notions about 2nd series" dated April 28, 1988 and the Holmes-Weatherly Award for 1987 presented to Henry Hampton by the Unitarian Universalist Association.
