Box 01 - Contains various files related to the Museum of African American History, African Meeting House in Boston/Nantucket, 1971-1987.  Includes correspondence/memorandums, invoices from The Black Chronicle, financial records, newsletters/bulletins/brochures, proposals, meeting notes, speeches,  various projects, vendor lists, fundraising, reports, museum operating plan, resumes, press/publicity, proposal and documentation related to the restoration of the African Meeting House. 

Box 02 - Contains various files related to the Museum of African American History, African Meeting House in Boston/Nantucket, 1987.  Includes master inventory, board member directories, meeting notes, employee contracts, resumes, correspondence/memorandums, Cooperative Agreement with the National Park Services, draft of the "Boston African American National Historic Site, General Management Plan and Environmental Assessment,"  the reopening of the African Meet House, events, brochures/other publications, proposal for the funding of a booklet, clippings, Martin Luther King, Jr. speech "The Gift of Prophecy," preface to Marilyn Richardson's book on Maria Stewart (a black abolitionist and feminist active in Boston in the 1820s and '30s), fundraising, proposal cover letters/other proposal materials, NEH audit, budgets, taxes, annual report, and invoices.  Also has materials spanning from the early 1970s to 1992.  Includes clippings, photographs, and brochures; several copies of the "Annual Report of the President of the Musuem of Afro Americal History" (June 26, 1986), "Operating Plan and Fund Raising Strategy For the Museum of Afro American History" (March 1989), and "Report to the Board of Directors" (August 1986); an agreement for marilyn Richardson to become Curator of the Museum of Afro American History and other materials related to fundraisers (1989); "The Museum-Smith Court News" Vol. 4, No. 1 (August 1991) and information related to the event, "Presenting Mr. Frederick Douglass"; and financial reports (1992). Also has draft of a letter from Hampton to Executive Director Sylvia Watts McKinney detailing his service to the Museum up to 1996.Also has building plans, capital campaign strategy documents newspaper articles and an invitation to an event at the African American Meeting House in 1996. Also has a "Statement of Case" dated Nov. 1973 proposing expansion of the Museum. Also has insurance documents and a program for the dedication ceremony, October 11, 1987. 

Box 03 - Contains various files related to the Museum of African American History, African Meeting House in Boston/Nantucket,1984-1989.  Includes documentation related to the publishing of a African Meeting House sourcebook, the African Meeting House Sourcebook (1988), proposals, correspondence/memorandums, collections, press releases, event invitations, reports, budgets, grants (National Endowment for the Humanities), fundraising, newsletters, and clippings.

Box 04 - Contains various files related to the Museum of African American History, African Meeting House in Boston/Nantucket,1988-1989. Includes correspondence/memorandums, personnel files, annual reports, foundation proposals, legal files, museum job descriptions, financial records, settlement offer, proposals, press, events, meetings, final contract document from National Park Services regarding the African Meeting House restoration, development, resumes, museum retreat, and clippings. 

Box 05 - Contains various files related to the Museum of African American History, African Meeting House in Boston/Nantucket,1990-1997. Includes correspondence/memorandums/facsimiles, proposals, resumes, brochures/other publications, research, exhibitions, meeting notes, financial records, event invitations, newspaper clippings, the museum's "master plan," and a final report of the "Restoration and Adaptive Re-use of the Smith School and African Meeting House" (May 1994).

Box 06 - Contains files related to Hampton's involvement with various advisory boards, 1990-1992. Includes the boards of the Documentary Festival of New York, Ford Foundation, Green Seal, Lincoln Filene Center, Facing History and Ourselves (board handbook, 1990), Loeb Fellowship Program, Ford Hall Forum, Grassroots Leadership, Masschusetts Civil Liberties Union Foundation, African American Political Free Agent Campaign (Thomas Farrington), International Documentary Association (IDA), International Film Seminars, Inc., and  "Frontline."  Also has  fianancial documentation, such as expenses related to board activity, "Frontline" press material,  correspondence between Hampton and Film Forum Director, Karen Cooper, in regards to "Malcolm X: Make it Plain" as well as other correspondense/memorandums/facsimiles. 

Box 07 -  Contains various files related to Hampton's involvement with the boards of the Rockefeller Foundation (1988 annual report and Videocassette Distribution Task Force), Green Seal, Children's Defense Fund (CFD), Cambridge College, Lyndhurst Foundation, Boston Center for the Arts (BCA), American Council of Learned Societies, Black Filmmaker Society, and the duPont-Columbia jury, 1987-1993. Includes correspondence/memorandums, reports, meeting notes, and newsletters/other publications. 

Box 08 - Contains various files related to Hampton's board and professional activities with Boston College, Brandeis University, Children's Defense Fund (CFD)/The Black Community Crusade for Children (BCCC), Cambridge College, Facing History and Ourselves, "Frontline", International Documentary Association (IDA), Japanese American National Museum, and the  National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH),1993-1995. Includes correspondence/memorandums/facsimiles, reports, meeting notes, and publications/brochures. Also has invitations/notifications of meetings from various organizations arranged by month and year (1994).

(TPI), Massachusetts Civil Liberties Union Foundation, Sigma Pi Phi, the Rockefeller Foundation (information regarding a conference in Bellagio, Italy), Charles H. Revson Foundation, Inc., Cambridge College, Boston Center for the Arts (BCA), Council on Foundations, African American Political Free Agent Campaign (Thomas Farrington), Grassroots Leadership, "Frontline,"  Lincoln Filene Center, International Documentary Association (IDA), International Film Seminars, Inc., Ford Foundation, Carol DiMatti Stuart Foundation, 1992-1993. Includes correspondence/memodrandums/facsimiles, reports, financial statements, schedules, press clippings, newsletters/brochures/other publications, and meeting notes.

Box 11 - Contains files related to Hampton's involvement as a panelist for the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), 1989. Includes NEH guidelines/application instructions, media log, applications, panelist evaluation sheets, and other panelist information.
