Contains 1,077 photographs gathered and/or created for "Black Stars in Orbit."  Includes color and black and white photos and negatives in various sizes, 8x10 in.,  5x7 in.,  4x6 in.,  8.5x11 in. as well as Polaroid prints and slides. 
Photos show African Americans who have made contributions to US aeronautics and NASA.  Includes pilots such as the Tuskeegee Airmen, astronauts, trainees and scientists. Also has photos of planets, spacecraft and mission logos. Many are official NASA publicity photographs. Also has photos of interviewees promoting the series, space related art, children participating in a NASA space camp and publicity photos of William Miles wearing a NASA uniform.
