Autherine Lucy says she "thinks that the students will welcome her and hpes to be a credit to the University." Reporters ask if the NAACP is moving too fast. Marshall says you can't override prejudices overnight, but the Emancipation Proclomation was in 1863. He believes in gradualism, but 90 odd years is pretty gradual.
