Title Work Title No: 1815 Alternate Titles: Tommy and Angela Sex Ed Film Medium: Moving Image Date: 1980 (Release) Original Summary: "Presentation about male sexual responsibility centered around a dramatization of a teenage love affair."--Worldcat. "The film is a case study of Tommy and Angela, two teenagers faced with the problem of making wise decisions about their sexual relationship. Interspersed throughout the case study are documentary sequences which include interviews with young men responding to the questions: 'What is a Man?' and 'Who is responsible if a young woman becomes pregnant?' Also included are rap sessions with teenage mothers in a School-Age-Mothers Project in San Francisco and young men in a Planned Parenthood program in Chicago. Comments from these rap sessions, the interviews, and from the Reverend Jesse Jackson highlight the problems surrounding the definition of manhood and sexual responsibility. These problems are dramatically illustrated in the film sequence in which Angela's unexpected pregnancy draws an angry outburst from Tommy, whose initial reaction is denial of responsibility and lack of concern. He tells Angela: 'You're the one who is pregnant, not me. You messed up! It's your problem!' Communication about the problem of the unexpected pregnancy begins when Tommy decides to share the responsibility with Angela and demonstrates caring concern about their situation." - The "A Matter of Respect" Film Guide Countries of Origin: U.S.A.
