Material corresponds to pre-production, production and post-production of Blackside series, I'll Make Me a World, Hopes on the Horizon and This Far By Faith.  Other material gathered by Judy Richardson after her time at Blackside related to former Blackside staff, or the re-upping of rights to broadcast Eyes on the Prize is included.

Box 1:  Material related to pre-production and post-production of I'll Make Me a World.  Includes agenda and two binders of readings for I'll Make Me a World School held b Blackside prior to production of series.  Also includes educational guide for the series.  Material related to pre-production, production and post-production of Hopes on the Horizon.  Includes information on scholars who participated in the School prior to the production, scripts, notes from meetings and production report.  Additionally a Blackside newsletter from 1998 is included.   Information about a NEH Summer Institute on teaching Civil Rights is included as is other material related to Blackside, but not created by them.  A dissertation, "Eyes on the Prize: American Historiophoty in Documentary Film" by James Arnold G'Schwind at Indiana University and a thesis project by an undergraduate student at MIT, Hasan Sharif on a computer program related to Eyes on the Prize are also included.  Some material is annotated.

Box 2: Material related to pre-production of This Far By Faith.  This includes research, meeting notes and readings for the School prior to the production.  Also includes some promotional material and review for the series.  Remainder of material was gathered by Judy Richardson during and after her time at Blackside.  Several folders related to awards given to Henry Hamtpon by various organizations, including the Boston Film and Video Foundation, the National Conference of Black Mayors, the Boston Association of Black Journalists and the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation.  Also includes material related to the transition of Blackside after the death of Henry Hampton, as well as tributes about Mr. Hampton.  Additional material related to the re-broadcast of all fourteen episodes of Eyes on the Prize.  Finally, material on former colleagues from Blackside is also included.  Some material is annotated.
