Board of Education. Briggs, Sr. signed a petition along with nineteen other parents to protest the lack of school buses for the African American schools. After the petition was ignored by the county, a suit was filed challenging segregation in schools. This case was Briggs v. Elliott and eventually reached the Supreme Court as part of the Brown v.
