He likewise describes a Meredith March rally in Canton, Mississippi that state police broke up with tear gas. McKissick also talks about speeches in Jackson at the end of the march (including one by Martin Luther King), and his view at the time that the movement needed to address economic inequality. Finally, he discusses his support for continued white participation in the movement.
